Terms of use

Effective date: October 23, 2026 · Last updated: October 28, 2026

These terms apply when you use Collie, on the Free plan or a paid plan. Please read them: they include automatic renewal of paid plans, limits on our liability and the law that governs disputes.

1. Agreement and parties

These Terms of Use ("terms") are an agreement between you and CollieSR Company, based in Wyoming, United States, who operates Collie ("we", "us"). You accept them when you create an account (the sign-up screen and the Google and Apple sign-in buttons tell you that continuing means you agree, with links to these terms and to our privacy policy), or when you otherwise use Collie. If you do not agree, do not use Collie. If you use Collie on behalf of a university or other organization, you confirm that you may accept these terms for it.

Our privacy policy, refund policy and copyright policy are part of these terms.

2. The service

Collie helps you plan, run and report systematic reviews and meta-analyses: search, screening, full-text review, extraction, risk of bias, meta-analysis in R, GRADE and PRISMA 2020. Collie is a hosted service at app.colliesr.com; there is no version for you to install or run on your own computer. Collie has no built-in AI: AI assistance works only through an AI agent you connect yourself (section 12), on every plan, using your own AI provider and subscription.

3. Eligibility and accounts

4. Plans, billing and automatic renewal

Your paid plan renews automatically. When you subscribe, you authorize us, through Stripe, to charge your payment method the price shown at checkout at the start of each new billing period (every month, every 3 months or every year, depending on the period you chose) until you cancel. You can cancel at any time online, in the app, under Plans & billing › Manage billing. Cancellation stops future charges; you keep access until the end of the period you already paid for.

5. Cancellation and refunds

To cancel, open Plans & billing › Manage billing in the app and choose to cancel your plan in the Stripe customer portal; no email or phone call is needed. Your first paid subscription comes with a 14-day money-back guarantee. After that, we do not refund partial periods, except for duplicate or erroneous charges or where the law requires it. The details are in our refund policy.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

7. No protected health information

Collie is built for systematic reviews of published, aggregate evidence. It is not designed to store health records, and we are not a "business associate" under the U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). You must not upload protected health information (PHI) as defined by HIPAA, or any other data that identifies a patient or research participant, such as names, contact details, record numbers, images or full dates linked to a person's health. If you work with individual participant data, remove identifiers before you add it to Collie. We may delete content that breaks this rule.

8. Sanctions and export control

You may not use Collie if you are located in, or ordinarily resident in, a country or region subject to comprehensive U.S. sanctions, or if you are on a U.S. government list of restricted parties, such as the Specially Designated Nationals list kept by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). You agree not to use or export Collie in breach of U.S. export control or sanctions laws.

9. Your content

Your reviews, records, files and analyses remain yours. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, process, transmit and display your content only as needed to provide the service to you and your collaborators, including backups and serving it to the AI agents you choose to connect. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, subject to the backup periods in our privacy policy. You can export your reviews at any time. You are responsible for your content and confirm that you have the right to upload the PDFs and data you add.

10. Copyright and DMCA

We respect copyright and expect you to do the same. If you believe content on Collie infringes your copyright, send us a notice as described in our copyright and DMCA policy. We remove or disable access to infringing material when we receive a valid notice, and we terminate, in appropriate circumstances, the accounts of repeat infringers.

11. AI features and scientific responsibility

AI features suggest; they do not decide. Suggestions, extractions, summaries and automatic GRADE or PRISMA statuses are generated automatically and may be wrong, incomplete or out of date. A person must review and accept every suggestion before it becomes part of your review. You and your team remain responsible for every screening decision, extracted value, judgment and conclusion. Collie is a research tool: it does not provide medical, clinical or legal advice, and its outputs must not be used as the sole basis for decisions about patient care.

12. Agent kit

The Collie agent kit (github.com/leandromedeirosfelix/collie-agent-kit), an MCP server and Claude Code plugin that you install in your own AI client to connect it to your Collie account, is open source under the MIT License, which governs your use, copying and modification of the kit's code. The source code of the Collie app is not licensed to you. The Collie service, its content and the method guides it serves to signed-in users are not covered by the MIT License and remain governed by these terms. The MIT License does not grant rights to the Collie name, logo or mascot.

13. Our rights

Except for your content and the rights granted by open-source licences, Collie, its cloud service, website, design, name, logo and mascot belong to us. We give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the cloud service under these terms while your account is in good standing. If you send us feedback, we may use it without obligation to you.

14. Third-party services

Collie connects to services we do not control, such as PubMed, Europe PMC, OpenAlex, ClinicalTrials.gov, Crossref, R packages, Stripe, AI agents you choose to connect and their AI providers. Their own terms apply to your use of them, and we are not responsible for their content, availability or practices. Collie references third-party methods and appraisal tools, such as the Cochrane Handbook, PRISMA 2020, GRADE, RoB 2, ROBINS-I, QUADAS-2 and QUADAS-3; it does not license or provide them, it is not affiliated with or endorsed by their authors, and you should use the official versions of those tools.

15. Availability and changes to the service

We work to keep the cloud service available, but we cannot promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we may need maintenance windows. We may improve or change features; if we remove something important from a paid plan, we will tell you in advance.

16. Disclaimers

To the extent the law allows, Collie is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that analyses, AI outputs or third-party data are accurate or complete. Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, so they may not all apply to you.

17. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or research time, and our total liability for any claim relating to Collie is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for fraud or, where the law so provides, gross negligence or wilful misconduct.

18. Indemnity

To the extent the law allows, you agree to defend and indemnify us against third-party claims, and the related costs, arising from content you upload or from your breach of these terms or of the law. This does not apply to the extent a claim is caused by our own fault, and it does not limit rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.

19. Suspension and termination

You can stop using Collie and delete your account at any time in Account › Delete account. We may suspend or close accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these terms, that put other users or the service at risk, or when the law requires it. We will tell you why unless the law prevents it or it would compromise security. If we close a paid account without cause, we will refund the unused part of the period. Sections that by their nature should survive (such as 9, 16, 17, 18, 20 and 22) survive termination.

20. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved by the state or federal courts located in Wyoming, and you and we consent to their jurisdiction. There is no mandatory arbitration. Nothing in these terms takes away the protection of mandatory consumer laws where you live, such as Brazil's Consumer Defense Code (Código de Defesa do Consumidor) or the consumer laws of the European Union, including any right you have to bring a claim in the courts where you live.

21. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For changes that materially affect your rights, we will tell users by email and on this page at least 30 days before they take effect. If you do not agree, you can cancel and delete your account before the change applies; continuing to use Collie after that date means you accept the new terms.
